I desired to receive a rangefinder for my husband’s birthday. After reading the reviews on the Nikon Riflehunter I selected it. I wasn’t disappointed. It did everything I expected & I felt lovely about the cost compared to more costly rangefinders. The only downfall was that laser rangefinder didn’t help us discover a spike elk. At least if they had seen they would know how far laser rangefinder was!!

bought Nikon’s riflehunter 550 camo. Its very compact, very correct in tests on signs, cars, surfaces in town up to 600, & even gives readings on farther distances if flat surface. In brush & mountain area, laser rangefinder tests great on rocks, soil slopes, etc up to same range with great accuracy. Have not tried on mammals yet, looking fwd to getting some actual usage upcoming. Has great coating, crosshair, & overall feel is rugged.

i like this product, has worked in all kinds of weather for me, i have even “”shot”" laser rangefinder through a double pane glass window and laser rangefinder was correct. laser rangefinder does have the ability to give you both line of sight distance and horizontal distance which is lovely for making a shot up or down a steep incline. i only wish laser rangefinder would tell you the exact angle of the slope as well, probably not a massive deal for most people but i like to know that kind of thing. all in all i do like it, passes time while your sitting in the treestand

My first impression is that this is an excellent rangefinder for the funds. Without using the owner’s manual, I was one time quickly able to check ranges of several objects at our ranch – trees, metal surfaces and animals were ranged for variety – and all of them appeared to be correct. Conditions were windy and mostly sunny and my time was limited, but so far I am impressed. I look forward to using it under other conditions, such as lower light/overcast/etc. While hog hunting with a mate recently, they was using his Leupold rangefinder and was unable to get it to change to the proper mode through repeated attempts without his manual. From what I have read and from my limited experience to this point, the Nikon is a less complicated tool. I found it to be user-friendly and intuitive.
